The Education Committee (EC) of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) is a formally established committee of ESOT aiming to advance transplant education in Europe for all disciplines related to the field of transplantation.

Develop, Expand, Execute, Educate, Interact, Network

The tasks of the ESOT EC can be summarised as follows:

  • promote the overall educational philosophy and programmes of ESOT as they are defined by the ESOT   Council in collaboration with the ESOT EC
  • organise and support the advanced courses of ESOT which are part at any given time of the formal ESOT educational pathway (currently iPT, Hesperis, Evidence in Transplantation Course-EVIT, European Transplant Fellow Workshop-ETFW, Hepatologist in a Liver Transplantation Program Course- HLTP, European Donor Surgery Masterclass-EDSM and Basic Course for Split Liver-BCSL)
  • collaborate in the organisation and educational activities of other courses in the field of transplantation across Europe providing that those do not contradict the overall educational philosophy of ESOT and a formal agreement is in place between ESOT and the organisers of the courses regarding the format and content of this collaboration.
  • organise the educational sessions of the biannual ESOT Congress always aiming to offer progressive ideas in transplant education
  • work closely with the ECs of Transplant Societies across Europe and beyond Europe to promote transplant education in a mutually beneficial way
  • produce the material needed for updating the educational section of the ESOT website and the ESOT e-newsletter
  • work in formal partnership with the Division of Transplantation of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) in the pan European quality control projects in the fields of transplantation surgery, medicine, coordination and immunology.
